Middle School - 6th Grade Dia de los Muertos Celebration - Nov 5 and 6
Ms. Milian's Dia de los Muertos celebration for ALL 6th graders is next week, Nov. 5 and 6 at 9:45am. The celebration will include Pan de Muertos, hot chocolate, crafting papel picado (Look this up. It is really cool!) and decorating traditional sugar skulls.
100+ students will attend the celebration each day. To pull this off, Ms. Milian needs our help! She still needs:
- (10) 2 lbs bags of POWDERED / CONFECTIONERS sugar for icing on the sugar skulls. Ms. Milian needs these by MONDAY NOV 2 BEFORE the party.
- (20) Loaves of Pan de Muertos bread (at local Mexican bakeries).
- (20) Half gallons of chocolate milk. If you can bring prepared hot chocolate to the party in a coffee carafe, that is even better!
- (120) Paper cups in Dia de los Muertos theme or bright colors such as red, purple, black
- (200 sheets) Tissue paper in bright colors example here
- Dia de los Muertos decorations examples here
Although no parent volunteers are needed for this celebration, parents are welcome to attend.
To donate items, please go to the MS Teacher Wish List on Sign Up Genius here. This way everyone can determine what items are still needed. Please bring all non-perishable items to Ms. Milian by Monday Nov. 2nd. Please bring bread on Wed 4th, Thurs. 5th or Friday 6th. Signing up on SignUpGenius.com is a snap. But if you prefer not to sign-up online, simply bring your donations to Ms. Milian.
Thank you for making this an authentic Dia de los Muertos celebration! Questions? Contact Ms. Milian or Amy.
