Holiday Gift Giving
Each year FoAEA provides information on holiday gift giving that helps support
our community and raises money for the school. Last year the AEA community helped
raised $3,000 while purchasing holiday gifts for your family and
friends. This year, with the growth in
the schools and the better visibility of this program, we'd like to see how much
better we can do.
Holiday Shopping Through Amazon
The amazon.com affiliate program has
become one of our most successful fundraisers over the last few years in part
doesn't cost anything beyond what you were going to purchase
anyway. This school
year participation has been fantastic.
How does the program work? Simple! The only thing special you need to know is
As you are planning your holiday gift giving, please remember to use our link
(foaea.org/amazon) and tell anybody you can
about it including grandparents, uncles and aunts, friends of the family, etc. Gift
giving can have even more meaning when it is also raising money for schools.
There's no limit to who can use it, how many times, or how much money we can
raise through this program!

Book Reading at AEACS by Famous German Author Cornelia Funke
AEA was able to host the famous German author Cornelia Funke on Friday on our
elementary campus for a book reading to several of our elementary and middle school
students who showed their interest by writing a brief German book report of their
most liked Funke book. Frau Funke has written many bestsellers that were translated
into English including The Thief Lord, Inkheart, Inkspell, and Dragon Rider, the
Ghosthunter series, and several popular picture books.
Her reading at Einstein was out of her bestselling book
Drachenreiter- Dragon Rider (Deutsch and English). After the reading children had the chance to ask
the author questions and get a book signed. There was also a raffle with Frau
Funke's books, signed of course.
This wonderful event, organized by our German language representative Mrs. Ibold
and our German department, was made possible by the German Consulate General in
Los Angeles and the German Department of School Abroad (ZfA) who has supported
German education at AEA for many years through direct financial support and by
bringing German events to AEA.
